Great Big Trees offer an innovative and eco-friendly product to a niche market. Their tubed sapling trees are sold as gifts and more recently as corporate incentives to the likes of the Hilton Hotel chain. Great Big Trees pride themselves on offering an ethically sourced product with recyclable packaging that helps combat global warming, one tree at a time.

The issue Great Big Trees faced was how to reach their niche consumer in great enough numbers so as to make the business model viable. The answer was via the web. As such, the challenge was two fold - first to make an e-commerce solution that would allow consumers to purchase the trees online and the second was to raise awareness of the site and product throughout the target market.

The construction of the e-commerce site, which included a secure checkout and integration with PayPal, was the easy part of the execution. Once the shop was up and running, an analytics account was implemented and numerous methods of direct and viral marketing were trialed to see which had the greatest effect.
